Edward sighed, the thought of yesterday’s events still fresh in his mind…the larger half which he fully knew belonged to Bella wanted to be by her side…

Date: Friday, March 11, 2005
Location: The Cullen Household
Characters Involved: Edward, Esme, and Carlisle.
Status: Incomplete

Obviously, you can make this post as large as you’d like—I’ve shortened it for simplicity sake. From there, Carlisle and Esme could interact with Edward, and once they feel they’ve finished with this post they could move on to a new post. Please remember to mark your posts as "Completed" in the status section once they are complete.

Hope that explains everything!
08:22 pm ❝character journals❞
volturi: (Default)
Once you are accepted, you are required to make a new journal for use with the role play. At that time, you may join the community with that journal only. This prevents clutter and confusion when new members go to friend other characters in the game.

When selecting the username for your character, it's often likely that their names will be taken. think of your character’s personality, quirk, hobby, habit, or a quote by or referring to your character.

What these journals are for…
First and foremost, they allow you to post on the community. We will not approve membership to your personal journal as we want all players to use a character journal specific for posting.

Secondly, these journals are use to update the fellow players on your character’s life. Recent events that have happened during the role play. In a nutshell, this journal will be your character's journal; use it as if you'd use your own... only, in character.

A bit about "Character Play-bys"…
Ideally, we enjoy having the official cast used to represent our characters. However, this is certainly not required, as we all tend to have varied opinions on the casting of the movie. For simplicity's sake, many role players will chose the officially casted actor, but many choose alternate actors and actresses to portray their character—or simply have no choice, as their character may not have been casted.

When selecting an actor/actress, please be as realistic as possible with your selection. Research physical descriptions and take age into consideration. If you are stumped, check out the OOC community ([livejournal.com profile] newbornooc); your fellow role players are bound to have suggestions for you.
08:34 pm ❝about dreamwidth❞

Making the move to Dreamwidth was something that was done under great consideration. While the site is very similar to LiveJournal, there are several differences. In this post, I hope to explain some of the things you may be wondering about.

How do I…
Link another DW account?
http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=87
Link an LJ account?
http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=87
Place text behind a cut?
http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=88
Cross-post an entry to LJ?
http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=98
Set-up notifications?

Paid Accounts
The paid accounts on DW are a bit different than on LiveJournal. At first glance, they appear a bit more expensive—but look closer. Dreamwidth offers 75 icons by default on all Paid accounts, as well as 200 icons on all Premium accounts. A year of Premium paid time is only $5 more than Paid accounts on LJ with extra userpics and on average you only get 100-110 icons as opposed 200 with DW.

So, what’s so great about DW anyway?
A lot of things, really. For example, it’s separate from LiveJournal and our activities there; it's quieter with fewer distractions. It makes it easier to use and regard as a "creative outlet," because you're there generally for one thing—not switching back and forth between your journal and your character's like on LiveJournal. It's a very private atmosphere so it's easier to get in the "zone" creatively.

Not to mention… everyone has an official account, for free. No one has to feel left out anymore for not having one, and we won't have to spend any more money trying to get them.

Of course, there are a lot of great things about Dreamwidth. It’s very much like LiveJournal back in the glory days, it’s ran and operated by former LJ staffers, and the LJ source code used on Dreamwidth has been updated, improved upon, and streamlined.

11:02 pm ❝layout setup❞
volturi: (Default)
Because Dreamwidth is a new service, I will admit that it’s very difficult to find layouts that everyone likes or is everyone’s style. It should be noted, however, that the staff is working on porting new layouts onto the site and overtime, this process will be easier.

How to set up a layout on DW
Setting up a layout for Dreamwidth is very, very similar to setting up a layout on LiveJournal—unfortunately there are very few default styles. True to any internet community, many talented designers are already creating layouts DW.

Looking for an override for a DW layout? Check out:
[community profile] mintyapple and [community profile] dreamwidthlayouts.

Setting up a LiveJournal layout on DW
In addition to using a layout coded for DW, with the creation of a layout style you can port a LiveJournal layout over to DW.

[personal profile] antagonist breaks it down in this post:
http://antagonist.dreamwidth.org/619.html

The process is very simple; by creating the layout style you can then transfer almost any post from LJ to Dreamwidth. Note: I have already edited the code so you don’t have to make the necessary edits; you can find it here – Flexible Squares · Smooth Sailing.

Just copy and paste these codes into the module and hit “Save & Compile” and you should be able to use any layout you find made for the Flexible Squares and Smooth Sailing style. Having problems? Refer back to the post listed above or leave a comment—I’m always happy to help!

Looking for an LJ layout? I highly recommend [livejournal.com profile] mintyapple, [livejournal.com profile] thrashmetal, [livejournal.com profile] milou_veronica, [livejournal.com profile] refutare, and [livejournal.com profile] estiloamor.

Hope this helps you all!
